Michelle Tremblay’s beautiful play “For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again” opens at Victoria Playhouse Petrolia on Friday, July 6th. Following two hugely successful musical productions, this is the first play of the season chosen by Artistic Directors David Hogan and David Rogers.
The show stars Leah Pinsent, multi-Gemini award winning actress and Jonathan Crombie (pictured), most recognized for his portrayal of Gilbert Blythe opposite Meghan Follows in the Anne of Green Gables movie series.
Both of these wonderful Canadian actors bring an incredibly real relationship between mother and son to life on stage.
The production is directed by Sarnia native Daryl Cloran who is currently the Artistic Director at Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops, BC. Daryl has directed the play in the past and is thrilled to be working with such talent as Leah and Jonathan to stage it again.
This play, one of Tremblay’s most beloved, will certainly put you in mind of a woman in your own life who does what she needs to do to deal with the daily reality of her own family and situation.
She is funny, she is exasperating, she berates, she exaggerates and you can’t help but love her for all of it. Tremblay based the character of “Nana” on his own mother and the admiration he had for her and her influence on his life. It’s clear that he gives much credit to his mother for his own imagination and success in his chosen career.
This timeless story is sure to be a hit for Victoria Playhouse and its new Artistic Team, and it’s one you should make every effort to see. Tickets are on sale now at the VPP Box Office in person, by phone at 519-882-1221 or online at www.thevpp.ca.
