United Way meets 75% of goal–still short $400k

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton has raised the lion's share of its $1.85 campaign goal this year, says Executive Director Dave Brown.

"We have now reached $1.39 million as a result of some surprising employee campaigns," said Brown, referencing BP Canada, some schools, and County of Lambton interim figures.

Brown believes based on past experience at this point in the campaign that the goal should be met. "Clearly the focus is to complete the campaign and raise the final 25%," he said. "We still have several employee campaigns to finish and still are counting on many donors who historically contribute through the mail, including retirees whose company matches their contributions."

Brown said retirees from Nova and Lanxess will need to complete their donation forms soon as the deadline to have those donations matched is quickly approaching.
