Update: Major water main break on Colborne Road

The water main break on Colborne Road, city officials said, that affected numerous homes and businesses since yesterday afternoon has been repaired as of late this morning.

"The water main has been repaired despite some early problems isolating the actual break and some leaky valves along the way," said Public Works department official Brian Prouse.

However, Prouse cautioned that, although the problem is fixed, there still might be some fine-tuning necessary before all of the affected homes and businesses can use water again.

The road itself, between Hall Street and Rosedale Avenue, is still closed until new asphalt can be laid later today.

Motorists are still asked to avoid the area until further notice.
