Sarnia Sting looking forward to three games this weekend

Club starts at home against Owen Sound Attack this Friday then travels to face Saginaw Spirit and Soo Greyhounds


The Sarnia Sting came away with a mixed performance over the holiday period, first winning (6-3) against the Windsor Spitfires in a December 28 contest, followed by consecutive losses to the London Knights, the first being New Year’s Eve (London winning 4-3 in overtime).

The Sting then lost at home to the Knights on January 2, losing 5-4, also in overtime.

This week the club will face the Owen Sound Attack on Friday at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre (puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.). They then travel to Saginaw to face the Spirit on Saturday (also starting at 7:05 p.m.) followed by a Sunday afternoon game in Sault Saint Marie with the Greyhounds (puck drop at 2:07 p.m.).

Sting Notes:

Matt Mistele: The overage LW scored in all 3 games last week and added two assists for a total of 5 points in 3GP. Mistele has now scored in 6 straight games and has 9 goals in 10 games played with the Sting. He leads the team in points with 32 and is tied with Zacha for most goals with 17.

Nikita Korostelev: The Maple Leafs’ prospect continues his strong play of late, scoring in all 3 contests last week, while adding 1 assist. Korostelev has 7G in his last 10 GP.

Jordan Kyrou: Kyrou tallied 1G, 3A in 3 GP last week. The draft-eligible winger now has 27 points on the year including 14 points in his last 10 GP.

Sasha Chmelevski: Chmelevski had 1G, 1A on Saturday night against London. The rookie also added an assist on Thursday in London and a goal on Monday night against Windsor. Chmelevski now has 9 goals and 8 assists for a total of 17 points in 29 GP.
