Police looking for man suspected of defrauding local store

Sarnia Police are appealing to the public as they search for a suspect believed to have defrauded a local store.

Sarnia Police are hoping someone will be able to identify a man they say is suspected in an alleged fraud involving several thousand dollars worth of merchandise from a store in the 1300 block of Exmouth Street in Sarnia.

Police say the man, whose picture was provided to media, entered the store at about 6:10 p.m. last Thursday (January 28), applying for a credit card for that store. He is said to have presented a driver’s license which was later found to be inaccurate (the picture was his but the information belonged to another individual).

According to further information received by Sarnia Police, a “sister” store in London, Ont., had also been defrauded, presumably by the same man.

Sarnia Police are asking anyone who is able to identify the man in the photo to contact Detective Constable J. Lewis at (519) 344-8861 (ext. 6200) or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8447.
