Annual shredding event takes place this Saturday

Sarnia Police, local shredding company team up for free disposal of confidential documents

It’s the annual event for which anyone with documents that are in need of disposal but really shouldn’t be thrown out with the trash has been waiting.

It’s this Saturday, May 14 for the 11th Annual Community Shred Event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main parking lot of Wal-Mart (1444 Quinn Dr.)

Wal-Mart and Shred-it are organizing the event. Members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run will also be present to accept donations for the Special Olympics.

Experts recommend people securely dispose of documents no longer needed, especially those that contain information that could be used by perpetrators of identity fraud schemes. Throwing those documents in with household garbage is absolutely the wrong thing to do.
