Dream Home is now open for viewing

22nd year for Lottery raising funds for new CT scanner at Bluewater Health.

One lucky ticket buyer for this year’s Dream Home Lottery at Bluewater Health Foundation will have a chance to share in a prizeboard valued at $576,132.73 but anyone can take a look at the home, now open for viewing at 404 Rodriguez Dr. in the east side of Heritage Park in Sarnia.

A ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday officially marked the opening of the home, built by Iacobelli Construction Limited, a prize value of approximately $450,000.

Add in the furniture, electronics and appliances (also included in the home) and the major prize is worth $526,117.32.

But the key takeaway in this year’s Dream Home Lottery is the new CT scanner that is expected to be operational in January 2017.

Dr. Youssef Almalki, Bluewater Health’s medical director of Diagnostic Imaging, says the new piece of equipment, which costs in excess of $2 million, including installation and the new suite surrounding the actual scanner, will dramatically improve the quality of care available to patients.

The home is a two-bedroom 1,715 square foot bungalow, plus 790 square feet in the basement which consists of a finished rec room and bedroom, plus full bath downstairs.

Lori Bambury of Brush Strokes Interiors has once again shown her unique touch with this home (Bambury has done so with all but one home since the fundraising effort began).

A full list of those companies involved in this year’s Dream Home Lottery effort can be found on the Bluewater Health Foundation website.

Open Houses for the fundraiser will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, February 19, excluding Christmas.

There will also be an open house held on Thursday evenings.

The first of two early bird draws will take place on January 13, 2017 at noon (the deadline for the first draw is January 8, 2017 at midnight. The prize for the first early bird, valued at $5,400, is an all-inclusive 8 day, 7 night trip for two to El Dorado royals, a spa resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

A second early bird draw prize is an oval deep purple amethyst Belgium cut diamond pendant, valued at $3,115.41 and donated by Crowley’s Heart to Heart Fine Jewellery. A $2,000 cash prize is part of this draw, which will take place on February 14, 2017 (deadline for the second draw is February 8, 2017 at midnight).

The final draw will take place Friday, February 24, 2017 at 9 a.m. in the atrium of Bluewater Health, 89 Norman Street, Sarnia. A deadline for the Dream Home Lottery draw is midnight on February 20, 2017 but expectations are that the 8,500 tickets available will be sold before then.
