Eastbound 402 now open. Work on westbound 402 continues

Eastbound highway 402 from the Blue Water Bridge all the way to London has now been reopened.  However, police continue to advise motorists to drive with caution due to icy and snow covered sections.

Westbound highway 402 remains closed between Nauvoo Road (the Watford cutoff) and Mandaumin Road (county road 26) as snow removal and towing operations continue.  The designated detour for westbound traffic through the stretch is County Road 22/London Line.  It has been cleared and is passable in both directions.

Police are asking that motorists who have vehicles stranded in the closed area be patient.

The County of Lambton remains under a "State of Emergency".

Police on snowmobiles and military aircraft continue to search for stranded motorists on roadways north and south of the highway that have not been ploughed.
