Eastern portions of Sarnia remain a mess, say city police

The ongoing inclement weather in our area has created a tale of two cities in Sarnia.

While conditions look much improved in the core of the city, eastbound roads from Modeland Road remain closed to traffic.

"While a glance out of the window in downtown Sarnia paints one picture of the weather, conditions east of Brigden Side Road are entirely different," said Sarnia Police Cst. Bill Baines.

He said police and work crews continue in their efforts to reach stranded vehicles, including some who have disobeyed police barricades and ventured into dangerous territory only to become stuck.

Meantime, passenger traffic crossing the Blue Water Bridge into Canada can only make it as far as Sarnia since highway 402 remains closed in both directions from the bridge all the way to London and alternate routes through the city such as London Line are also closed.

Police are again requesting that travelers postpone any travel into Sarnia-Lambton until weather conditions improve.
