Go Green awards celebrate the eco-friendly among us

Individuals, businesses and students are singled out for their efforts to be stewards of the environment

A number of individuals, businesses and even a group of students were singled out for their efforts in being stewards of the environment as the “Go Green” Awards for the City of Sarnia were handed out on Monday.

The ceremony, which was held before regular business of City Council, included each of the winners being introduced and presented with a plant.

The winners include:

Blackwater Coffee Company, which won in the business stewardship category (small business, up to 20 employees).

Enbridge Green Power, Transmission and Emerging Technology, which won in the business stewardship (medium-large business, more than 20 employees).

Brenda Lorenz, Eco-Warrior.

Return the Landscape, community stewardship.

Rosedale Public School, Mrs. Lumley’s Grade 5 Classroom, Sarnia’s greenest classroom.

Brandon Vale, youth or youth group category.

The Go Green Awards were created by the Sarnia Environmental Advisory Committee. The awards are designed to promote environmental stewardship in the City and to recognize and celebrate the successes of individuals and groups that make a positive contribution to the improvement of the environment in the City.
