Students enrolled in Lambton College’s Developmental Services Worker program are hosting their first ever summer day camp for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The free day camp, called Camp2CONNECT, will take place on Tuesday, August 9 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is open to varying individuals, aged five years and up, including Sarnia-Lambton’s aging population.
The camp will take place at Lambton College and guests of the event can expect to participate in a variety of accessible activities for all ages such as face painting, bocce ball and other outdoor games. Camp activities will be led by students currently enrolled in the Developmental Services Worker program.
“We have a very dedicated team of faculty and students who have worked extremely hard to organize such an inclusive event,” says Donna Church, vice president, Academic, Lambton College. “We are extremely proud of their hard work, ensuring that the camp will not only be enjoyed by all age groups, but will also be completely accessible for each and every guest.”
The camp day is free for all attendees and participants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or support staff for the duration of the day. Campers are required to bring their own lunches, drinks and snacks for the day.
Pre-registration is required for this event and all campers must have a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian in order to attend.
To register and download the consent form, go to https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/camp2connect-tickets-26411960886.
