Lambton College newcomer Jon Ashe, left, with James Grant, who coaches the Lambton Lions men's basketball team.

With many of the core players retiring from the Lambton Men’s Basketball team, there’s an opportunity to highlight some of the new recruits coming to Lambton College this fall. Thanks to Lambton College head coach James Grant for sharing this interview-style profile of Jon Ashe.

Full Name: Jon Ashe

HT/WT: 6’4 205

Program: Sports Management

Highschool/Hometown: Whitmer High School, Toledo, Ohio.

Why did you choose Lambton? I chose Lambton because I’ve heard nothing but good things about them and from talking to Coach [Grant] and meeting some of the players this is the type of environment I want to be around.

What do you bring to the team? What I bring to the team is leadership, energy, and hard work on and off the court.

What are you looking forward to most next season? I’m looking forward to winning a championship next season. I hope to not only gain friends, but also brothers on the team. I hope to be successful not only on the court, but also in the books.

What are your personal goals for next season? I hope to improve my handles (ball-handling skills) and my 3 point shooting so I can be a threat from the inside and outside.

What is your gameday routine? I always listen to my favourite songs and I have to have some kind of candy in my system!! I also always give a big thanks to the big guy up top.

What is your favourite hobby off the court? Off the court I would have to say hanging out with my friends. That or watching movies. I am a big movie buff, could watch them all day.

What is your favourite moment in your basketball career?:  Without a doubt my favourite moment would be my game winner in high-school. We were in double OT with 2 seconds remaining when I hit the shot. The entire student section stormed the court, it was the best feeling the world.
