MP says she’s hopeful about Private Member’s Bill

Legislation would commit government to ensuring standard for palliative care

Sarnia-Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu says she’s hopeful the Private Member’s bill she has introduced in the House of Commons will help define what real quality of life means to Canadians who need quality palliative care as they age.

The proposed legislation, Bill C-277, would provide a framework for palliative care in the country, said Gladu.

Gladu explained how the idea for the legislation first developed. She also said she is hopeful that the legislation “will drive action.”

Gladu also told Lambton Shield that she has had a productive first year as the area Member of Parliament, including being able to stick with her priorities as a representative.

Gladu also said she has been able to work collaboratively with her colleagues in Parliament, hopefully in ways that advance the interests of her constituency:
