Police say arrest made in recent string of break and enters

Sarnia Police say they have arrested a 43-year-old Sarnia man for a recent string of break and enters that targeted local businesses.

Mark Allan Erickson faces six charges related to the break and enters. He also faces six charges of Breach of Probation.

Police say that between July 17, 2016 and August 30, 2016, the accused was linked to six separate break-ins to businesses in the City of Sarnia.  In nearly all the cases, video surveillance allegedly shows the accused gaining entry by smashing a window and then removing various items from the premises.

On August 30, 2016, Police say they conducted a traffic stop and arrested Erickson for the alleged offences. After a subsequent search of the accused, along with his vehicle, Police say they recovered property that was linked to these offences.

A warrant was later executed at his residence, and Police were able to recover several more items they say were llnked to the alleged crimes.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and as of 11:25 a.m. on Friday remained in custody.
