Lambton OPP are warning businesses of a suspicious man who is trying to purchase gift cards using a company cheque from a business he claims to own.
Authorities say the same man has tried to use the scam at stores in Grand Bend, Forest and Watford since Wednesday.
Police says the suspect calls the stores in advance indicating he wants to buy gift cards for a staff incentive program and if the store manager agrees, the man drops by with the cheque to pick up the cards.
They say one store accepted the cheque as payment while the other two became suspicious and would not accept the cheque.
The suspect, who is thought to be between 25 and 30 years old, is described as being just under 6 feet tall, with dark brown, spike syle hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and jeans and driving a yellow two-door vehcile.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lambton OPP or Crimestoppers.
