It’s a now classic event and Sarnia Artwalk 2016 is living up to the expectations of those gathering for the two-day event, which began at 11 a.m. Saturday and runs to 5 p.m. on both days.

Music lovers will want to stick around for ticketed concerts by Miles Fault (8 p.m.) and Them Dang Rattlers (10 p.m.), both near Refined Fool on Davis Street. Tickets for Saturday’s concerts are $10 (a $15 ticket covered both Friday and Saturday events).

Sunday’s musical rundown includes:

  • D.J. Franck Nowak
  • The Songwriters Circle at 11:30 a.m. (with Jim Chevalier, Romney Getty, Andrew Austin and Marty Oblak).
  • The Dave Russell Band (1 p.m.)
  • Sisters of Soul (2 p.m.)
  • Bil Eldridge and the Noble Sinners (3 p.m.)
  • Weird Neighbours (4 p.m.)

Have fun everyone!

My family and I won’t be attending Artwalk this year. On Friday Counsellor Sholten posted a message on her Facebook page that there was a charge to enter several streets leading into Artwalk. She was very upset and so was I. When I saw her message I immediately called family and friends and they also stayed away this year.

Next year I hope the Organizers of Artwalk can find a corporate sponsor so Artwalk will remain open and free for the entire Sarnia Lambton community. Many families in our community are struggling financially especially families in our downtown community. This event should have been free for all.

I can’t thank Counseilor Sholten enough for her open and transparent posts on Facebook keeping our community up to date. We’ve never had a City Counselior like her that is so involved with social media. Thank you Counselior Sholten.
