Sarnia-born Dustin Jeffrey has been called up to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins from the Pens top farm club in the American Hockey League.
Jeffrey, a 6th round draft choice of the Penguins in 2007, has 30 points in 25 games this season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Penguins coach Dan Bylsma told the Penguins website that Jeffrey will take a regular shift on the fourth line tonight against the Buffalo Sabres and could also see some time on the penalty killing unit.
Jeffrey has played 15 games with the Penguins over the past two seasons, registering a goal and two assists. He also played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Mississauga and Sault St. Marie.
In 2007-2008, he finished ninth in OHL scoring with 38 goals and 59 assists for 97 points.
