Organizers of the Sombra Township Optimist Club, which is holding its 12th Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 18 at Brander Park in Port Lambton, think they’ve figured out a way to make this year’s 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. event even more popular with car enthusiasts competing for adoring eyes.

optimist car show 2015 1This year there will be no pre-registration, which means no more line-ups and no more waiting.

Owners will simply park their vehicle, fill in a registration form and return to the registration area with their $10 participant’s fee.

Spectators will get in free, say organizers.

Along with the vehicles on display, the Optimist Club is featuring Home Built Soapbox Races, with registration at 9 a.m. and a practice at 10 a.m. More information is available by calling Vic at (519) 784-5912. He can also be reached by e-mail.

Other features will include Dotsy the Clown face painting (from noon to 2 p.m.). There is also a new splash pad to keep people cooled off.

There will be door prizes, a 50/50 draw and penny tables along with hot dogs/hamburgers, peameal and cheese, walking tacos, cold drinks and free coffee.

There is also a licensed refreshment tent planned as well as live music by Pull 3.
