Sting’s Hooey makes Ont. squad for U-17 World Challenge

Garrett Hooey of the Sarnia Sting, who was the team's second round pick in the 2010 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, is one of 21 OHL players to be named to the 22-man roster for Ontario's Under-17 team at the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The event, scheduled for Dec. 28, 2010 through Jan. 4, 2011, will be held in Winnipeg, Man.
Robert Kitamura, Team Ontario director of operations, made the announcement, along with Hockey Development Centre Ontario.
“Selecting a team from the available talent pool in Ontario is always a difficult task," noted Kitamura. "However, I believe that the coaching staff and I have selected the 22 best players that will represent Ontario with pride and class both on and off the ice at this high performance event. We are confident that this group of athletes are committed and prepared to compete for the Gold medal.”
Hooey has two goals and two assists so far this season, dressing for all 21 Sting games and taking on a prominent role on the penalty killing unit.
