SWIFF (South Western International Film Festival) is proud to present National Canadian Film Day.

The organization, an international, new media cultural event that aims to establish Sarnia-Lambton as a cultural hub for South Western Ontario, does so partly through an annual film festival, as well as artist workshops and an educational outreach initiative with high school partners.

A free screening of ‘Sleeping Giant’ will take place on Tuesday, April 19 at the Sarnia Library Theatre at 7 p.m.

But SWIFF also intends to bring the expertise of professional filmmakers to share their knowledge in a productive way with the local community.

“Sleeping Giant,” a Canadian Screen award winning feature film with multiple nominations and awards, won Best Feature Film at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Most recently the film has been nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards.

National Canadian Film Day is a day to celebrate Canadian culture, Canadian history and Canadian stories. More than 300 screenings will take place across the country in every province and territory.

A free screening of ‘Sleeping Giant’ will take place on Tuesday, April 19 at the Sarnia Library Theatre at 7 p.m.

A star of the film, Jackson Martin from London, Ontario. will be in attendance for a Q&A period after the screening.
