It’s time to meet your neighbours!

Sarnia Community Round Table has set the dates—June 11 & 12—for fourth annual 'Neighbourhood Meet & Greets'

Don’t know that new neighbour across the street? This is your chance! On June 11 & 12, citizens of Sarnia will be encouraged to host events in their own neighbourhoods. For the fourth year, the Community Round Table is encouraging Neighbourhood Meet & Greets, where citizens plan simple activities, gatherings or events in their neighbourhoods to bring people together.

To help with these activities the Community Round Table will offer host kits to a few lucky neighbourhoods. The kit could include burgers or hotdogs, and sweets. Be your neighbourhood lead and register your neighbourhood today. Registrations can be emailed to info@thecommunityroundtable.com. The deadline to be considered for a host kit is June 6.

Activities could include: potlucks, barbecues, porch parties, backyard movie, street parties, cleanups, games and the list goes on and on. Whatever local citizens can think to do which will bring neighbours together, improve their neighbourhood as well as the social wellbeing of their community.

The Sarnia Police supports Neighbourhood Meet and Greet. Getting to know your neighbours can help prevent crime. If you know your neighbours, you are more likely to keep an eye on their home when they are not home or are on vacation. You will be able to recognize suspicious persons or vehicles in the area and report matters to police.

Getting involved is a great way to enhance the quality of life in Sarnia in a positive way. What a great way to get to know people, try new things and have fun! An invitation template and tips to organize your neighbourhood can be found on the Community Round Table’s Facebook page: sarniacrt.
