The Sarnia-Lambton YMCA has set of a target of $224,300 for its annual Strong Kids fundraising campaign, in doing so accepting a donation of $25,0i00 from Kelgor, a local fabrication business.

The annual campaign helps fund local YMCA programs that improve the lives of children and youth from families with financial barriers through access to nutritious food, recreation and healthy environments. With the support of YMCA financial assistance programs and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, more than 1,800 children, teens and young adults are welcomed to the YMCA every year.

“We are grateful for the first significant corporate donation,” said Jim Janzen, CEO of YMCAs across Southwestern Ontario, referring to the Kelgor gift. “We want to provide opportunities for young people to reach their potential, achieve their goals and improve their lives. Donations from local businesses like Kelgor help make that a reality.”

The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign runs from February 17-April 30, but donations can be made throughout the year. Campaign details are available online at www.ystrongkids.ca.
